    Human Rights defenders insist that to overcome discrimination against women, the governments of Armenia and Belarus must adopt a comprehensive anti-discrimination law that considers all forms and grounds of discrimination, including discrimination against women, ethnic and religious minorities, and foreigners and stateless people, as well as discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.

  • Female convicts completed hairdressing course and received certificates (photos)

    The course has been organized by “Civil Society Institute” NGO in cooperation with the N6 State College of Crafts of Yerevan, Penitentiary Department of the Ministry of Justice of RA and “Abovyan” penitentiary institution. “The course was aimed to help female convicts to acquire profession get a job and stable income after serving the term”,- noted the director of CSI Anna Melikyan.

    12 female convicts, who are serving their sentence at “Abovyan” penitentiary institution and are preparing for release, are participating in a short-term hairdressing course organized by the “Civil Society Institute” NGO. The course started on July 1 and aimed to help women to acquire profession and get a job and stable income after serving their term in prison.

  • Workshop for probation officers on mediation

    On 13 July 2016, a workshop event took place in CSI’s premises. The event was organized by CSI to discuss the basics of the mediation in context of the victim-offender reconciliation programs, the activity, which is an intrinsic part of the new Law on Probation.

  • Hairdressing course for female convicts

    The program is aimed to help women prisoners to acquire profession and get a job and stable income after serving the term. The program has started on July 1, 2016. At present a training space is being repaired and furnished in cooperation with the administration of the institution. All the equipment, materials and supplies required for hairdressing courses will be provided for the beneficiaries of the project.

    According to the information gathered by from official press-releases, published by the Armenian Ministry of Defence ( and NKR Defense Army ( at least 17 more soldiers of the NKR Defence Army have been killed since April 5 as a result of cease-fire violations at the Line of Contact between Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan.
