  • Nikole Pashinyan was convicted to 7 years of imprisonment

    The court of first instance of Kentron and Nork Marash communities with the head of Mnatsakan Martirosyan published the decision about the editor of "Haykakan Zhamanak" paper Nikole Pashinyan. The court acquitted a charge against Pashinyan about 316 Article, part 1 of the Criminal Code (exerting violence towards the policeman), instead, found him guilty and gave 7 years of imprisonment on the basis of Article 225, part 1 (organization of mass disorder). The court gave stricter punishment than the prosecutor demanded.

    RA administrative court headed by judge Artsruni Mirzoyan made a decision about the application of the chief editor of “Haykakan Zhamanak” newspaper Nikole Pashinyan, by which the court declared RA Police responsible for giving a reference stating that N. Pahinyan has been permanently living in Armenia for the last 5 years.

    During yesterday's trial of the editor of "Armenian Time" newspaper, Nikole Pashinyan, four police officers were interrogated. In this case of accusation (violence against a police officer), 19 of the examined witnesses were policemen, Pashinyan's accusation was based on these testimonies.

    The court of first instance of Shengavit community continues the interrogation of witnesses on the case of the chief editor of the daily paper "Haykakan Zhamanak" ("Armenian Time"), Nikole Pashinyan about one of his charges - violence against a police officer, article 316, part 1. The incident took place on the 23th of October, 2007, on the crossing of Koryoon and Abovian streets. The number of witnesses testifying for the case is 19, and only 4 of them have been questioned so far. During one of the trials Vazgen Dabakhian, the injured, testified and insisted that Nikole Pashinyan had hit his legs. The injured also noted that he had no actual injuries and hadn't requested for medical assistance.

  • Resembling ''the Case of the Seven''

    Today the court of first instance of Shengavit is starting the hearing of the case of the editor-in-chief of ''Haykakan Zhamanak'', Nikol Pashinyan. This court came to be better known to the public after March 1 events and the riotous case (known as ''the case of the seven'') against the oppositional activists. The hearings are held in adjusted court-rooms, separated from the court by a thick glass-wall, which creates tense and rather unfavorable working conditions for journalists, the audience has to follow the session through the glass, while the journalists follow by the monitors installed in a special room.

    On the night from 17th to the 18th of October the police of Vanadzor city arrested the inhabitants of the city - the leaders of local committee of the New National Conservative Movement of Lori Manvel Kostanyan, Garegin Galstyan and a number of other activists of the committee. They were arrested at the moment of posting flyers about the latest protocols concerning the Armenian-Turkish relations.

  • Editor-in-chief of “Haykakan Dzamanak” newspaper was arrested

    Today the editor-in-chief of “Haykakan Dzamanak” newspaper Nikol Pashinyan appeared to RA General Prosecutor’s office, from where he was taken to Kentron police station. Three attorneys accompanied Pashinyan. After questioning him the law enforcement bodies took him to the isolator of National Security Service.
