On December 11, 2014 in the evening oppositionist politician Aram Manukyan, Secretary of Armenian National Congress Parliamentary Faction, was battered at the entrance to his house. According to the representatives of ANC, the unknown person was of mid height and wore a hat. He hit the parliamentary in the face without saying a word.

CSI notes, that systemic problems which were frequently raised during the previous years are still urgent today. In Armenia the independence and impartiality of courts is not guaranteed and they are still dependent on public prosecution service.

The court found Aram Moughalyan, Robert Piloyan, Gagik Arakelyan and Artur Qlyan guilty of all charges against them and convicted them to imprisonment. As the amnesty for the 22nd anniversary of independence was applicable to them, the court relived them from serving the punishment and released them in the courtroom.

“Civil Society Institute” NGO sent a letter to the Armenian Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan drawing his attention to contradictions and falsifications of the pre-trial investigation in the criminal case against Aram Moughalyan, Robert Piloyan, Arthur Qlyan and Gagik Arakelyan who are charged with hooliganism and an attempt of setting a fire on a haystack.
Guilty verdict delivered on the case of a young man who had been subjected to violence at the police station

The court found Robert Hovsepyan guilty and charged him with almost maximal term. However, the lawyer states that there is no direct evidence proving the guilt of Hovsepyan, such as fingerprints or testimonies of any other eye- witness. The court based its decision only on the testimony given by a former policeman. The defense is going to appeal the verdict.
